Hopefully you're beginning to settle into your New Year's resolutions and intentions. A fresh energy is present, old habits are dissolving and healthier ones have stepped up to replace them. You may fall off the wagon here and there, but your efforts are worthwhile. Change is tough work, and we are all doing the best we can.
To ease this process, I challenge you to think BIGGER. We just started a whole new decade right? So instead of focusing only on how we can improve in 2020, let's create space and carve out plans to design what our next ten years will look like. Seeing the big picture can reshape our decisions and actions in a more meaningful and purposeful way.
Reflection
So how do you co-create the best decade ever? First you must look backwards for a moment. Spend time in review of the past decade. What "If I knew then what I know now" moments stick out to you? How have these lessons changed your perspective? This ten year data set gives you tried and true revelations to carry with you into this new era.
"You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life."- Steve Jobs
To learn from mistakes is really a shift in perspective, a widened view. Can you begin to see the bigger picture now?
Discipline
Now that you have reflected on the past, you can begin to start carving out your future. This is where the "work" is required. Let's take another look at those New Year's resolutions and goals. How do these changes fuel the future of your dreams? Are they sustainable? What tools do I now possess that equip me to maintain this "new normal"?
We owe it to ourselves to retrain our minds and bodies to operate in a way that better serves us. Whether it's daily rituals of meditation, and journaling, or healthy eating and exercise; replacement habits work. It creates a framework of activities that our brains can rely on, establishing a "muscle memory" for optimal functioning.
Trust
These repetitive, intentional acts create mental space for creativity, innovation and clear inspiration. Once we achieve this state of alignment, it's no longer about how hard we work. Instead, we find ourselves in the flowing river of abundance. Synchronicities are ever present and renewed energy is restored. This is where the fun begins!
Our nature to control gives way to self sabotoging thought patterns and behaviors. Release of control at the right moments can allow greater success, as we learn to work smarter not harder. We employ trust in the divine power within ourselves so we can move out of our own way and receive the blessings that we desire. We walk into this new time with a greater wisdom and strength than ever before, and this can support our next steps. We're different now, we have evolved.
Everyone's dream decade will look different. No matter if you're building a business, starting a family, or just exploring aspects of yourself; each dream is valid, beautiful and inspiring.
Dreams are eagerly waiting to become your reality. With the right mixture of reflection, discipline, and trust we can create our best lives yet.
Happy New Year!
